The results published in the two prior Bowling studies (1998 and 2000) yielded a haplotype for Haffiah's dam, Abeyah, imported by Davenport.  The other Abeyah line that was done for the 2000 paper was for the Blunt mare Queen of Sheba. The two haplotypes don't match. This is not a big surprise. From the Bowling data there were several lines where the strains were the same but the haplotypes are different, and some where the haplotypes are the same, but the strains are different.
and validation that Strains are not genetic... they are simply names.  Like any other pedigree name.

great to read that everything is progressing. :PerspectMA19366318-0001:   As well as hoping that there can be a concerted effort to establish the asl/asil gene pool.
cheers, diane

Hi Joelynn
One of the "missing" Abbeyans is mine. First, I was not available, then my vet went on holiday......but he is coming in a couple of days and  we will fire that off to Dr. Hudson. I have been in touch with him already.

Thanks Cathy!

All of the Bowling data is in GenBank and accessible internationally.

Anita... need a bit of assistance .... is it via WS?..... GenBank.com?.... it is not coming up for me.  I assume all data is in a book to purchase or we can view it on line?

GenBank is the NIH genetic sequence database, so you can access it through the NCBI website.  The database is searchable, but not terribly user friendly for anyone not familiar with it.

I did send blood samples to Dr. Hudson from 2 of my mares.  I was very glad to help and did not even ask for him to pay for the collection, I was glad to do it.
