The Gambit AE (Thee Desperado x LA Ranatta (Al Rashad RSI)) 1994 bay rabicano Egyptian-sired stallion. Sire is 1994 US National Reserve National Champion Stallion with foals winning all over the world. Dam was a 3/4 Egyptian halter champion with mare line tracing to old desert imports *Mirage and *Urfah, with just a bit of Crabbet as well. Solid 15 hands, maybe closer to 15.1, but haven't measured him in years.

See extended pedigree here:

http://www.allbreedp...m/the+gambit+ae

Breeders Sweepstakes Breeding Entry and Breeders Sweepstakes Nominated Sire. Has also tested clear for both SCID and CA. Pedigree research writeup by Arlene Magid available upon request.

Halter champion, sire of a halter champion in limited stud and showing career. My program has gone Straight Egyptian, and this lovely boy has been standing around not doing much of anything. Looking to get him into a primarily breeding home, that will keep him in good condition with maybe light riding. Has been out on lease for the past 2 years, but lessee hasn't done any breeding as planned, and will opt out for upcoming year.

Requires an experienced stallion handler. Not mean, just energetic and needs a firm hand to keep him to the rules.

Asking $6000 OBO. Time payments can be arranged with good references, including vet references. May consider trades (SE mare/filly, 2 horse trailer, cremello or perlino mare), and/or retaining a couple of breedings.

Please contact me at (951) 279-069 or e-mail me at arabianempire@msn.com for more information.

Completely forgot my webmistress had completed an edited video of Gambit. You can see it here:

Liberty footage taken, I think, fall of 2006 at 12 years of age.

Not really "crazy" cheap, just need to see him off to the right home, and soon. I can't have a second stallion, I'm not using him myself... The market is really bad, and I'm financially compromised right now.

I'd like to see a small breeder with one-on-one time get a really nice stallion to sire really nice babies for them. Sort of paying it back to the small breeder community, as it were. His Sweepstakes Sire (big outlay!) and major genetic testing (CA and SCID clear) are already done for you. But putting him back in the showring isn't really what I want to see.

I have a "free lease" offer, and the handler/lessee is right, but other aspects of this aren't to my liking. Still holding out for the right "forever home" for this guy!!

I guess "crazy" cheap wasnt the best way to word it lol. I just meant for a stallion of his quality you would usually see a considerably larger price tag.

Well, I'm certainly open to higher offers. Or a bidding war! :th_fencers:

PS Of course, the current lessee is telling me I want too much for him...

An update yesterday from his lessee:

"I just wanted to update that my trainer has been working with Gambit now three times and he is a wonderful horse to ride , so far just arena but we plan to get him on the trail here REAL SOON (As in within 2 weeks). I will then be able to give honest input as to his trail riding behavior.

He looks forward to human companionship SO much, this horse truly needs a person to call his own. He is really tired of being one of the pack at my place."

It will be interesting to see how Gambit does on the trails around her place: lots of roads, lots of ranches where stuff is up by the fenceline. He's rarely been out on trails, and those mostly natural!

He's in Southern California. Little place called Lakeside in San Diego County. (I'm actually located in Norco, California, in Riverside County. Gambit has been on lease for the last 2 years and is continuing to stay at the lessee's property for another couple of months.)

Adding some photos.

Gambit with the lessee's trainer, taken this past week:

Attached File  Gambit 2 081910.jpg   13.51K   2 downloads

And an older photo I dug up, taken in Fall 2008. This was taken about 2 months after he arrived at the lessee's facility. He'd been moved twice in about 3 months, once with his trainer of 3 years then again to the lessee and unfamiliar people/surroundings. He'd lost a bit of weight here, and obviously isn't posed, but it is a good view of his conformation at 14 years of age.

One of Gambit's purebred foals, The Shadowlord AE (x HQ Falon by Hals Quest). Gorgeous bay gelding out of a Polish/Crabbet mare, halter champion and was well started under saddle (see photos -- handler is 5'10", and Shadow a solid 15 hands although his dam was about 14.1). Sold, sold again... Ended up with a handicapped rider and doing well, last I heard. Great temperaments on Gambit's foals!

Shown at 12 hours old and again at 5 years.

Gambit's other purebred foal, out of a Straight Egyptian mare. This colt had the best temperament -- but then, so did his mom. NOTHING fazed her. Sold this gelding (Franklyscaarlet AE) to a casual riding home when he was 18 months old -- she had an old gelding who had a few more years of work in him, but she wanted a youngster to grow up with her, and eventually put under saddle. Completely lost track of him, and last time I looked at AHA Database, he was still in my name. :( I hate it when a horse loses his registration legacy...

Anyway, these were photos at about 12 hours. This was the first foal out of this mare, but he definitely caught up and probably matured a solid 14.3 - 15 hands. I'm still trying to dig through the wreck of my old PC and find anything of him slightly older. And any photos of Gambit's apricot dun 3/4 Arabian filly! She was hot stuff!

Current photos of Gambit, taken yesterday (9/28/10).

I'm very motivated to get Gambit off to a new home by the end of October. That will give him time to settle in with his new people before breeding season begins.

Don't like price? Make offer! Be prepared to talk about your plans for him, and be honest. He needs regular work, and regular people time, but is NOT to be a show horse again. He has much to offer to a small breeder's breeding program!!

Lease and lease-to-buy options are also on the table at this time. My biggest concern is that he get to the right place, and soon.

Additional photos available from yesterday's session.

More photos from 9/28/10. He needs to be offsite by October 31st per the lessee, although I do have a Plan B for him. Willing to listen to all offers with a home that fits my criteria (retirement to breeding status and light riding only, experienced stallion handler). This horse really can make a difference to a breeding program!
