This year's conference looks like it's going to be as good as the prior ones.  It's in Atlanta this year with easy access from the airport.  Several free farm tours are being scheduled with bus transport to all of them.  The farm tours begin Thurs Sept 16.

Great topics, and again, a great line-up of speakers:
DR. HANS-JOACHIM NAGEL, prominent World Arabian Horse Organization (WAHO) President, influential Arabian horse connoisseur and outstanding breeder,

JUDITH FORBIS, the first woman recipient of the Galbreath Award for Outstanding Entrepreneurship in the Equine Industry, jockey, historian, respected author and judge,

OMAR SAKR, distinguished breeder of global influence, whose passion, imagination and dedication have energized breeding in Egypt for decades;

EDOUARD AL-DAHDAH, brilliant younger scholar whose blog, Daughter of the Wind (www.daughterofthewind.org), is major new resource for students of desert Arabian horses, their homeland and their heritage,

JOE FERRISS, for nearly 4 decades, a respected analyst, author and historian of the Arabian herd, and

ERNEST BAILEY, PH.D., key architect of the Horse Genome Project, a global research effort, professor at the University of Kentucky's Gluck Equine Research Center and talented teacher of genetics-for-the-layman.

In major supporting roles are names well known in the Egyptian Arabian breeding community, including:

Anita Enander      Judy Guess
Marilyn Lang        David Gardner
Brandon Bryan    Jennifer Parsons
Becky Rogers      Dr. Joseph Cruz

Melissa, thanks for posting. I'm hoping to meet many forum friends in Atlanta.

For those who are interested in visiting Edouard Al-Dahdah's blog, the URL in the conference announcement is incorrect. Omit the www. and use only

thanks for the information. i guess that leaves many of our breeders out unable or unwilling to pay a dollar 350-400.00 fee.
what ever made me think that seminars like these are free of charge, the speakers donating their time.

ALL the shorter seminars at the Egyptian Event are totally free of charge.

The PS is not making any money on this seminar. These fees help cover some of the costs of the conference room, meals, printed materials, etc.

I have found these longer Breeders' Seminars to be extremely valuable for me, and very much worth the money they're charging.

And their cost is MUCH less expensive than other training I have gotten in the past.

Hansi,
Please do not assume that the speakers are being paid. I am a speaker; I am not being paid. I do not think I am unique for this case. As Melissa said, it is costly to put on such a program in a hotel facility. However, using an airport hotel facility is still most efficient for people because they don't need to rent cars.

Having run my own management consulting business for many years where I used such facilities for my work, I can tell you that it is very expensive to rent conference space in a hotel, pay the hotel costs for meals (this conference includes 2 dinners and lunch), pay for coffee/tea, pay for audio-visual equipment to be available for the speakers, pay for reproduction of materials (the resource notebooks that are given to each participant are HUGE and I know what it costs to have things reproduced), etc. I do not know the details of what determines the costs for this conference nor the pricing for attendees, but based on my experience the pricing is quite reasonable for an event that extends from mid-Friday until mid-Sunday in a conveniently-located hotel with top-notch facilities and food (to say nothing of the superb quality of the other speakers).

miss huprich, i dont think you will ever get it. ever heard of 'sacrifice' sharing a bit of the millions made? have you ever realized what the al khamsa supporters- al khamsa is doing?

i think it is a gesture of loyalty that my good old friend hans nagel, president of waho, continues to support the pyramid society. is waho also supporting the other bloodlines, would you know? would subjects be discussed- to bring back respect to the str.egyptions through testing their ability to function, or will it contnue on the same old road of destruction ? just asking.

enjoy your trip and be safe

I love what Al Khamsa is doing and the agenda for their conference looks fabulous (again) this year.  However, there is also a fee to attend their conference.  I am not complaining about the fee, I think the fee for the Al Khamsa conference is very reasonable too.

No conference can address all issues or topics at just one conference.  The topics for this year's Breeders' Conf are posted online via the various links that have been posted.  This year, like prior Breeders' Conferences, sounds like several very great and timely topics for breeders will be discussed.

however, i hope you all enjoy it, have a safe trip too. will be hearing of the results, i guess.

Having been very close the all the problems of IAHA/AHRA/WAHO/PAT/AHA and having been a member of IAHA (now AHA),AHRA (since 1960) and WAHO (since 1982), I have watched the changes in all these organizations occur over the years.  One of the original attractions to me regarding WAHO was the fact that this organization was totally non-political and the leadership and its members were very dedicated to the Arabian Horse Breed around the world in bringing all together for the best interests of the Arabian horse, leaving human considerations out.

Thus, when I read that Hans Nagel (current President of WAHO) is speaking at this Pyramid Society function, my first question is in regard to the subject being addressed by Hans.  I sincerely hope it is just limited to the WAHO organization and its purposes and accomplishments and nothing else.  The President of WAHO cannot (or certainly should never) show any preference to any individual horse, bloodline or breeding during any public speech, address or appearance.

Does anyone have any information regarding the subject of this address?

I don't believe Dr. Nagel is attending the conference as a WAHO representative, but rather as a well known individual Egyptian breeder to present during a segment with Judi Forbis.

The full agenda should be posted here:

Then, I'm very sorry to hear this.  Hans IS the President of WAHO no matter what function he attends. As long as he holds the position, IMHO, he should never be listed as owning his stud farm or his breeding lines.
