Just wanted to share with you all some new photos, taken in June of this year by the talented April Visel, of my 25 year old mare, Desert Vienna.

She is a US and Canada Top Ten Mare. She represents 5 generations of my family's breeding program. She's survived 2 colic surgeries (less than 24 hours apart 4 years ago) and a tendonectomy from laminitis in the past year, and a burst uterine vein when foaling 9 years ago.

Her survival through all these life-threatening events is due to the care of the following people: the very talented Chris Anckersen for the burst vein, the expert care of Mark Wharton and Quentin Naylor and the fabulous Rood and Riddle vets for her colic sugeries and laminitis care. Also many thanks to Dr Newton at Park Equine for helping oversee her current care. Yes, I'm really glowing about all these people - and she is also glowing and alive! Thank you all!!

That is a lovely mare and she looks fantastic for her age and for her medical history!

Wow, she looks fantastic, considering her age. If you had not said,I would have guessed between 7-10 only. It is amazing that she has lived through all those things. Bravo for singing the praises of people who usually remain unsung heroes. congratulations.
Cheers

Beautiful pictures of a spectacular mare! And I agree that it's so nice to read your praise of those who helped her through her medical issues. We hear so much about the bad apples, it's really great to read about some of the good guys.

Wow , she's beautiful and a credit to you and those who have helped her over the years. There is just something about these oldies that make me smile. I just love seeing them happy and healthy. :bigemo_harabe_net-109:
