Hi, I found this site when I was researching my neighbors mare - I found Amahls El Saghira http://www.allbreedp...ahls el saghira for them and transported her here.  She will hopefully be a 15 year old girl's new endurance horse - starting with some slow conditioning this spring (she was F-A-T) and doing some Limited Distance rides this next summer and fall.  (LD is defined as rides less than 50 miles and they are typically 25 miles and must be completed within 6 hours of the start time.)  My research was to make her new owner a photo pedigree - so far I'm only missing 8 horses in 5 generations which is pretty good I think.  (A few I need if anyone has them are: Monisa El Saghira, JML Cassiopeia, Faaba, Bint El Samraa, Sameera (1954 model) Hamamaa and Bint Hamamaa)

I have 4 horses myself, 3 arabs and an arab/kiger who is only 3 and will hopefully enjoy endurance and take over for my current horse who is going on 15 this year.  If anyone is interested, my horses are a mix of polish/russian and cmk lines (not sure if we have any egyptian in there?)  Oldest is my retired endurance horse - he'll be 26 this year, Donte http://www.allbreedp...mighte el donte still ornery and loves to go fast!!  

Second is our rescue arab - Teak - mostly CMK - http://www.allbreedp...il kontiki  was locked in a stall for over 10 years, coming out to breed anything in heat, paced so much his frogs went sideways, underweight, wormy, badly infected teeth, now missing 5 of them, manure burns, swaybacked, unbroke 19 year old stallion when we got him - he was gelded, put 30 days on him and got his health up and he's my daughter's endurance horse (just LD rides as he can't eat hay - quids something fierce and now we found out he's got a heart arythmia) so he'll just be her trail horse - he's 25 this year and still loves to get out on the trails but just won't pass a vet check with that missing heartbeat!! He's such a gentleman and seems to appreciate his new lease on life and is the young horse's best friend!  

Next is my 3 year old future endurance boy - Cal - http://www.allbreedp.../kiger caliente he's a dun with lots of stripes, excellent bone and feet, cocky and an in your pocket personality - looking forward to starting him this spring and maybe he'll get to do an LD ride by the end of summer - we'll see how he does in training first though.  Lastly is my endurance boy - a great little horse that I have nearly 2000 endurance miles on, over half top tens, only one pull (my fault) and 5 Best Conditions - Kalasha +/ wasn't started til he was almost 6 and will be 15 this year.  Not very typey but super athletic and we get along great! http://www.allbreedp...m/kalasha  Such a really great horse and I hope to get to Tevis this year - we had paid the year it was cancelled due to fire and are hoping to get another chance!  I enjoy them all very much.  We live in Washington State and if anyone is interested in starting in endurance, I am listed as a mentor on our website and would love to help bring new interest to my favorite sport!

Sounds like you have some pretty cool horses!! I hope you are able to make it to Tevis this year too!

I would love to see a photo of your Kiger/Arab cross. I have always admired Kigers, but never owned one.

I'm sure that Keiger / Arab cross is as sure footed as you can get with excellent bone and legs.

  & welcome to the forum. I would like to wish you all the best in getting to the Tevis which is a ride I have admired from the distance. Here in Australia we have the Tom Quilty but this ride is held some where different each year unlike your Tevis....I just love seeing the photos of horses at Cougar Rock...and what a true test this ride must be for horse and rider.....btw, I loved reading about Teak and how you turned his life around.

Thank you everyone!  Cal the half kiger half arab is a doll!  I'm a little biased though!  I'm trying to add a couple photos of him.  One taken last year and one when he was just a day or two old.

Wow.  I had to comment.  Your Arab/Kiger cross is amazing.  Beautiful and looks to be very athletic!  Congratulations and happy trails with him.

Boy I would LOVE to see photos of the Saghira mare. I love her lines, tried to acquire a mare like her years ago to breed to Sal but no luck. Almost ended up with a nice Hadban Enzahi daughter, but she had lameness issues. Any photos of this mare?
