Along with his beauty, El Din is also a real jewel to handle.  He can be handled in a soft, wide, stable halter with no chain.  If he starts to show off a bit more than you would like, it just takes a quick pull on the gentle stable halter (show halters, IMO, really 'bite' because they are so very thin) coupled with an authoritative vocal repreive to let him know you disapprove ... that's all.  He's a true gentleman, something I value as I'm past 65 and not as quick as I once was. He's also a total gentleman in the stall and paddock, no pacing or any other stable vices. He handles easily among other horses and is a pleasure to bathe and groom.  Both vets and farriers appreciate his willing cooperative attitude too. This boy is a complete pleasure to be around.

We'll miss him here (have known him all his life and he has spent a little over a year total with us at various times, so he's quite special to us).  Looking forward to keeping up with him in his new home.

Sharon,

His new family is telling me exactly what you have described!  The woman takes him on long walks, talking to him, primping on him, introducing him to the other horses and such before turning him out for the day.  He is very well loved and has plenty of good things to eat!

The black cable halter was used only for the photographs...lol.

She had his teeth floated and he was a total gentleman for the whole procedure, too.

Good to hear ... I'm not at all suprised that El Din did so well with the tooth floating.

Didn't mean anything detrimental about the show halter ... we have them too.

I still use a chain on the stable halters with our 3 yr old stallions, but Chrissi doesn't anymore.  The 'big guy' is a 16.2 (on the stick) Paint and he's blind in the left eye ... beautifully behaved, but I personally feel the need for extra control if something should spook him on the blind side, especially with his size, and I know how upset my son in law would be if I let anything happen to 'Scotch'.

Congradulations & best wishes to Poets Manor Ararians, new owners of Shadhem El Din.  He was bred & raised by me & was my pride & joy from the day he was foaled.  His dam was my favorite & most treasured mare.  She was improted in-utero, double Alla El Din on the bottom & sired by an Antar son.  His sire, a grandson of direct imports combining the blood of *Morafic, Alla El Din, & double Gassir.  It would be hard to get much closer to those tresured foundation bloodlines. El Din's wonderful disposition comes from his dam, an asset he passes on to his foals, along with his beautiful face, eye, dead level hip & high tail set. He is a Gem & a truly unique stallion.
