Hello, I just found this site and wanted to introduce our ranch. We have been breeding Egyptian and related sport horses for over 25 years, with Salazar SF as our senior stallion and now, our only stallion. I had seen a few comments about him and thought that if anyone wants an update on the Grand Old Man, this would be the place. Yes, he is alive and well, trail riding in the tough Tehachapis - and still breeding. His youngest daughter is rising three, and we have two mares up for breeding this spring. I will try to attach a photo of him last summer at 26 years old.

He looks terrific for any age, let alone 26.

Thanks Amber  I think so too. Just had a nice hour mountain ride on him. He is still push button... such a kind fellow.

Yesterday we celebrated the 26th birthday of Salazar's best girl, MFA Magicaly Dons, who is CMK, mainly Crabbet. She was a gift to us from a delightful woman who had no use for her in her breeding program. Being 6 months younger than Sal, they seem to be compatriots of a sort, and have side by side pastures. It almost seemed like Sal knew it was her special day, because, when I took her for her birthday trail ride, he screamed bloody murder! Generally, he will run to the end of his pasture at the front of our ranch, then go back and wait near the other mares. Not yesterday. Apparently, while we were gone, he galloped back and forth for most of the hour or so we were gone! I guess I worked two horses at the same time! It is interesting that he felt her absence more yesterday than usual. Next month we celebrate the birthday of Fadjur Hasan, who will be 16, and will remember LN Harlot, Sal's first girl who was born in February of 1975 and died in August of 2005. It seems that hard work, good food, and lots of love go a long way. Our horses are living into their 20's and two even into their 30's. I only wish our SE mares had had this longevity. Still keeping an eye out for a close relation to our precious Hadaya Anisa or China Trade Winds.

How neat to see the bloodlines you have. Got to see Ansata Ibn Sudan at Ansata in 1985.  I saw El Majiid pretty early in California and then later on in videos when Sheri Mose had him in Michigan. Liked to follow him, as we had an Ansata Ibn Sudan son called Macho REA who was out of Ann with 3 lines to Fadjur. We did a lot of trail/mountain riding (completed 3- 25 milers) with him for conditioning and to keep his mind fresh, in addition to showing halter, showmanship, English Pleasure, and dressage. Also had Silk Maleek (AK El Maleek--*Refky X Fa Halima--X Solsikken, who had 2 lines to Fadjur, and Dawn's Early Light, a Fadjur daughter who lived to be 32. So I see the resemblance to your horses, even far back, and love what you are doing. Have some friends from the 70s/80s--Claire Toomey and Vera Vann-- who rode a lot of high milers on Egyptians/Arabians, and maybe you know them too. Marilee in Las Vegas :)
