We also had the most wonderful judge, Canadian Scott Benjamin. Can't recommend him enough! Not only for his easy-to-understand judging style, but the way he talked to and gave advice and a smile to every competitor. One young girl said something along the lines of "well, my Mum was right because the judge said exactly the same thing, so now I am going to go home and practice!".
Scott was also an absolute riot as our "Auctioneer". Honestly we'd see huge numbers attending shows, if every judge and every show was this much fun.
Anyway, I hope Shaheen is a good ambassador for what Egyptian bloodlines can do when outcrossed to other lines (he's 7/8 Egyptian with a Crabbet and Polish damline). Maybe next year he'll be at the show under saddle...

Dear Demelza I am so glad to read about the Canadian Judge Scot Benjamin. this is what Pete Cameroan, Canada did all the time and is so deeply loved and respected. Even at my time, we had super Canadian Judges, straight forward, explanatory, kind and helpful and
themselves excellent horsemen. None were political either and nobody could buy any.
Can you please give me the names of the Reserve Champion and top tens, so that I can ad them in my database? Good luck with your beautiful stallion and possible he will win some day a Natl.championship under saddle. Take care Hansi

Congratulations on your Shaheen's win! Very exciting!
I know many of the breeders in New Zealand and the high quality of Arabian horses in the various breeding programs. Many NZ horses have been exported to the Mideast and other places. For Shaheen to do so well at the show is a credit to his breeders and to you for raising such a fine stallion. And you are also commended for planning to put him under saddle.
Indeed Scott Benjamin is a skilled horseman, and an excellent judge. At the Pyramid Society, we have been fortunate to have him as a judge several times, and numerous times as a seminar speaker, both in Kentucky as well as at educational seminars in other locales. We have always received great feedback from participants. For your horse to do well at a show judged by Scott says a lot about your horse!
