No, Sal is not for sale - he is healthy and happy in his pastures with his mares about him. It occurs to me that he likely has few seasons left and so we plan to breed him to a couple of our good performance mares. We no longer have any SE mares - ours are CMK performance mares. I suspect that live cover on the premises is best for him, we won't ship. I would be interested in hearing from people with good SE mares who are thinking of a good breeding or two for their mares, and would like to talk about a plan to do so in 2012. The market really does not bear out breeding a lot of mares,  but I cannot help thinking that when Sal is gone, his lines are deplete. How I WISH I had bought one of his sisters back then - but then he HAD no sisters when we bought him as a yearling! Less than advertising breedings, I sure would like to hear from those who have open, breeding aged mares, whether on the west coast or not, and what you think at this time about breeding when the market is terrible, perhaps none of us "need" another foal or two - but still trying to preserve the classic, competent and treasured lines of that handful of special horses some of us still have. If Sal has a blood sibling of heavy concentration, I don't know about it. He has some of similar lines, but to avoid the "Thee" horses and the halter-only horses, and possibly to find a Hadaya bred mare or an excellent Moniet mare... it has been bewildering. Thoughts?
