As the title says, I would love to see photos of your living Heirloom horses, along with their names, they are very rare here in Europe and from what I've been told they are getting rare in America as well!

Hi Rosie,

How about we see a straight Doyle mare?  She is
owned by Rosemary Doyle, and this photo was
taken by the talented Karsten Scherling during the 2009
Al Khamsa convention in Oregon at the Doyle ranch.

The mare is Gulida Kells DE, and she is with her 2009
filly Gulida Meath DE.  Pedigree is here:

http://roster.alkham...ls_DE0559d.HTML

She put on quite a show and I just thought she was
fantastic, but the entire herd is truly a wonderful sight.

Enjoy!

Hi Jill, thanks for the photo & info about Guilda Kells DE, she looks a lovely well built mare!  Anyone else got an Heirloom horse they can show me?

Hi Rosie,

Here is a photo of my 50/50 Ansata/Babson stallion
Razal Ibn Azalia aka "Monte."  Just want to show a variety of types
that still exist within the living Heirloom herd.  Just pulled him
out of his pasture and cleaned him up a bit.  No makeup.

thanks Jill for this bautiful photo. I saw so many excellent horses at the Doyles.
But I also saw some outstanding ones bred by Col..Pfippen. Very beautiful and highyl functional.
and of course, so "children" friendly, eh.

Posting these on behalf of their owner Carolyn Jacobson
of Beaux Cheveaux Farm in Alpharetta, GA.
two beautiful straight Babson Egyptian stallions
bred by the Babson Farm.

The chestnut is Mahroufs Hafid, born in 1992.  He won
the El Ghorab Memorial Dressage trophy at the 2003 Egyptian Event.
Pedigree here:  http://roster.alkham...Hafid03b24.HTML

The grey is Mah Bahrouf, born in 1995 and
photographed by the gifted Jennifer Ligon.
One of the very last Mahrouf sons.  Pedigree here:

I don't have pics, but the December issue of Arabian Horse World had a 2-page feature on Heirloom stallion Alara Ben Raad (Inshalla Imhotep x Shebas Moriah LHF) who competed to third place in his Novice Horse class at the American Eventing Championships.

I too saw many excellent horses at the Doyles
and there are too many reasons to list
why it is so worth a visit if you can go.  Even
if it is just to feel the ground shake when the
herd of mares is showing off -- go see them!

Of course you know I'm a long time fan of Colonel
Fippen's horses (and Jack & Betty themselves.)
Jack was an ardent dressage enthusiast and truly loved each
of his horses (and they loved him right back!)
Which leads nicely into Anitae's post below....  :D

Anitae,  thank you so much for sharing this with us here!
Would Debra or Pamela have a picture they might share?
I'd love to see him here if either would have the time!

It brings me to what I think is a valuable point in preserving
these different groups.  Alara Ben Raad's sire Inshalla Imhotep
(aka "Imo") was bred by Colonel Fippen.  His dam was
bred by Vincent Melzac of Locust Hills Farms, who blended
Doyle and Pritzlaff (including Ansata El Salim and Rabanna) lines.

So Alara Ben Raad combines within the Heirloom group
the breeding programs of Ansata, Babson, Doyle and
Pritzlaff.  It is wonderful to hear he is excelling in eventing
and I'll be cheering him on -- Jack is smiling somewhere!

Here are two among Kim Cooper's stallion roster at axiomarabians.com
that I'm looking forward to seeing (among others) at the 2012 Al Khamsa Convention:

The chestnut is a 2001straight Babson Egyptian, DU Akhir Flame.  Pedigree here:
http://roster.alkham...Flame05ced.HTML

The bay is a 2005 Babson/Brown stallion named HR Jamil Ahmar Hisaan.
He is one of the very rare links within SEs to the Zobeyni sire line which
is slipping through our collective fingers (in terms of genetic diversity).
Pedigree here:  http://roster.alkham...Hisaa06bc1.HTML

Enjoy these two -- I hope others with
this stock will post here as there are
many others within say the "under 800 living"
Heirloom population that I'd love to see
in this thread.  We're really just getting warmed up.

A couple of pictures of the Doyle mares, just to show the tremendous gaskins and rear ends these horses have. Sorry, I can't identify the individuals in these pics.(except for Chris Short. She's the two legged one)

Wow -- you all have made my humble Friday night
with this eye candy, memories of time spent at the
Doyle farm, and just appreciation for the horses.
THANK YOU!

Rosie, I owe you for starting this thread
and thank you for the opportunity to make good
my promise to the Colonel.  He was (& remains) my hero.

Cathy, LOVE the pics of the Doyles during our visit
--and our dear two-legged Chris Short:  ROCK ON!

Clo --you're killing me :D:  who are these lovelies?
And where might one be able to see them if in France?

Hansi, you make me blush and thank you for the
kind comments about Monte.  It is not my intention
here to promote my own horses,  I just wish to show
the breadth of the Heirloom horses & phenotypes
left, as well as what happens when one competes
with them....which leads nicely into the next post:
NEWS FLASH YA'LL....check it out!

I am thrilled to share this not just because
a young Heirloom, straight Babson Egyptian mare
tops the ranks at #1 here so far on the Region 9
USEF points list for Arabian Sport Horses, but
because she is also an SE mare.  Here you can
see our smaller breeders competing, winning,
and doing it themselves with this bloodstock.

#1 on this list is Khalida Kamar Rou, who's photos
I've posted below.  She is owned and shown by
Brittany Bartlett of Houston Texas.

We should all be proud of them and
cheer them on:
they're REPRESENTING all of us who
appreciate good SEs, no matter their
bloodlines.

In addition, I encourage you to look at the top ten
on this list from , specifically:
# 6 Kabiir Khayaal (a 2001 SE stallion) owned by Elaine Yerty, Waller TX;
# 7 Laziza Kamar (a 2010 Heirloom SBE filly) owned by Brittany Bartlett, Houston TX;
# 9 Sotamms Serrhita (a 2010 Heirloom SBE filly) owned by Elaine Yerty, Waller TX;

I have to add that the three Heirloom fillies
listed above have the same sire, Serr Sottamm+,
owned by Elaine Yerty.  Serr Sottam's sire
was bred by Colonel Fippen, then later owned
and shown to his multiple National wins by
Bruce & Diana Johnson.

Enough of my opinion <sorry> -- here is the source & link:

A few more photos...this is Zaraq El Amir BWA.
An Heirloom SE, black as kohl and I think a lovely horse.
I am posting with kind permission from his owner.
He combines *Adhem, Ansata, Babson and Pritzlaff.

Zaraq is owned by Laurence Perceval of
Laurence of Arabians in France.  More info here:
https://www.facebook...renceofarabians

Hope you check out the attached PDF as
well -- it contains a couple more smashing
shots of this boy.

Enjoy!

Dear Jill,

Thank you so much for posting about our darling Zaraq el Amir Bwa
(Amir Seralim Bwa x Khemona Lisa Bwa by Khe Adhm), imported in France in 2008.
He is expecting 4 offsprings this season including one SO out of Canasta Fayrooz and one SE out of Zenia Marou, all AK eligible :)
Unfortunately no HL mare...

We are so found of him, we also imported his half maternal sister, also AK HL SO SE..:
Solara Mooniet Bwa (BW Fadl Tali x Khemona Lisa Bwa)

I am unable to attach pictures ....here's the link to her FB album...

https://www.facebook...52532671&type=3

since you all know the growing stages they go through and how slow they mature, you will certainly be looking at them with the necessary "grain of salt".

I need to find a SO SE Heirloom stallion for her since I would not feel like inbreeding her to her half brother.

Since we seem to have a growing "colony" of AK SO SE HL horses in France, I would be very happy to organize a small Tour de France for any of you wishing to entertwine arabian horses and romance :)

Thanks Claire for starting this fascinating subject...and yes, diversity is possible from such a selected gene pool.

Just curious....what constitutes an Heirloom Arabian?  I have just aquired several straight Egyptian AK horses in the last couple of years.....old bloodlines....I know......I have a SE/AK colt....HM Imperial Sharraff.....out of Lazize AH  and by Moniet El Badi.  Would he be considered Heirloom?  Reg.# 652967  His sire is 22 years old this year.....wonderful old stallion. Attached is a picture of Moniet El Badi
