I am very pleased to introduce the result of my first attempt at breeding. My Egyptian/CMK mare Layla (Starlite Duchess) was bred to the SE stallion Sabbataz JA. This little boy, born on a cold and wet day in Apr and a bit overdue (358 days) was the result:

Thank you all so much

Sandy, little "Ibn" will grey out like his sire. To my knowledge, Taz has only sired greys (pretty sure he is homozygous for the grey gene).

Liz Dieter came out last week after I gave Layla a bath and took some absolutely wonderful pictures of them. I think she got the best picture yet of my mare, who is extremely difficult to capture in photos. Here are some pictures she took:

Those are really nice pictures.  I have a black filly and it is extremely difficult for me to get decent pictures.  The light has to be perfect or all I get are black silhouettes without much detail.  Mare and foal are beautiful.

Love the photo where he is facing the camera and you can see all his legs. Intelligence in his face and width between the eyes.  He is developing into a little tank already. Also love the one where he is stretching his neck to the little girl, and where the other child is hugging him. That is what all this is about. Great blend of sire and dam. Liz is awesome, and a great mentor with so much knowledge and passion for the horses. :)

Just wanted to share new pics of my little guy, now 2.5 months old. He's really shedding out in the face and you can see the grey hairs proliferating. I wonder how long until he is pure white? He's very friendly, bold, curious, and not afraid of anything! He is really getting TALL, and I think he actually might end up taller than mom (she's a touch over 15hh)!

Thank you, Hansi :)  I like him more and more every day, but I'm sure I'm just a touch prejudiced...

You are so welcome. Often this breeding combination produced some super performers under saddle.

BTW most the time you can see if the eylashes have a grey hair or the upper lid ihas a bit of a silver lining, horse will turn grey.

In any case, it does not really matter, eh. A horse is a horse and color does not make it good or bad.

Good luck with him
