I stumbled upon this wonderful article on the Koheilan Krush strain on the Arabian Heritage Source website. One of the most recent influential horses from this strain is Ibn Safinaz.

The article is outstanding with several excellent historical photos, even one taken by Lawrence of Arabia. Here is the link:

Hi Valerie....I loved the article thank you for the reference. I knew the Krush mare from Bahrain from my time out there and somewhere I have photos of her that I took. I also have some very old cine film of her moving...you have to see it to believe it...what a mover. I will find the photos and try and find out how to load up some of the cine. I also knew Krushan and Speckled Jellabi and they are both in my Bahraini horses pedigrees. Unfortunately if I remember correctly that Krush mare was a difficult breeder and never bred many foals. His Highness the Amir (Sheikh Isa Bin Sulman Alkhalifa) used to turn her loose in the paddock and we would just sit and watch her....she was around 27/28 years old at that time. She would float across the sand and seemed suspended on invisible threads I have never seen it done since.

thanks so much for the link. ken keele was after me a number of times trying to find a good k/krush because he must have competed against some in the endurance races.

i am so glad our people became aware of what there really is out there.

Great article - fantastic strain. 3 out of my 6 have Ibn Safinaz and it breeds through in body substance, bone and motion.

Do you know, what "Krush" means and why this kuhailan strain was called "Krush"?

"The horse, who is too precious and too beautiful to be ridden, is neither precious nor beautiful. It's simply called an impaired horse by merciful Allah."

Ellesmere Park Arabians has a lovely tail female Koheilan Khrush mare Sweet Meadows Sadira. Sadira is by Simeon Sandek (Simeon Sadik x Simeon Sheba) out of Brantia Park Raedella (Ansata El Hakim x Jardine).

Thanks Valerie, just getting around to this thread, there are horse pictures in there of horses I've been wondering about, again thank you.
Over at Amethyst Acres is an MB Mistaz(by Ibn Safinaz out of Imperial Mistill-Jamil) daughter, out of a Minstril mare & the older she gets the more I like her.

Actually Valerie, I was wrong - had the wrong mare, She's out of the TD daughter Desperados Sheba, owned by that right nice guy out of Canada, Cornelius Jantzi. Sheba was out of TM dtr-who was out of an IMEN dtr -tail female Il Mandil/Salomy/Malaka/BB Riyala

Desperados Sheba has been a good producer for him - was an excellent cross with the Rhapsody in Black son, Magic Elixir (by The Elixir) - that filly went to the EE.

this MB Mistaz dtr has not be promoted as halter show quality, but I really like her & suspect she'll be an excellent broodmare.

Hello Janek,

Volume One of the Bahrain stud book gives this information on the Krush line in Bahrain.

I am still searching out the photos and film I have of the old speckled Krush mare I loved taken in the late 1960's !
